121 Sustainability Policy

121 is Committed to Promoting Sustainability. Guiding Principles:

  • To comply with, and exceed where practicable, all applicable legislation, regulations, and codes of practice.
  • To integrate sustainability considerations into all our business projects whenever possible, as much as possible, from their conception to their production, and as recommendations to all of our clients.
  • Ensure all staff are fully aware of our Sustainability Policy and committed to implementing it.
  • To minimize the impact on the sustainability of all office activities.
  • To make clients and suppliers aware of our Sustainability Policy, and encourage them to adopt sound sustainable management practices.
  • To review, report, and continually strive to improve our sustainability performance.

Practical steps in order to put these principles into practice:

TRAVEL AND MEETINGS

  • We encourage thriftiness in all our work travel: in Flights, Commutes and avoiding the use of disposables on the go.
  • We will walk, cycle and/or use public transport to attend meetings as much as possible, except in exceptional circumstances where the alternatives are impractical and/or cost prohibitive.
  • In our day to day, we have available practical meeting alternatives, such as video conferencing. We promote a time-efficient culture and mindset, making short, efficient meetings.
  • Reduce the need for our staff to travel by supporting alternative working arrangements, including home working etc, and promote the use of public transport and carpools to get to our office locations.

PURCHASE OF EQUIPMENT AND CONSUMPTION OF RESOURCES

  • Minimize our use of paper and other office consumables, for example by double-siding all paper used, and identifying opportunities to reduce waste. As far as possible arrange for the reuse or recycling of office waste, including paper, computer supplies and redundant equipment.
  • Reduce the energy consumption of office equipment by purchasing energy-efficient equipment and good housekeeping.
  • Ensure that timber furniture and any other timber products are recycled or from well-managed, sustainable certified sources, and that old furniture and equipment disposal goes to upcycling.

WORKING PRACTICES AND ADVICE TO CLIENTS

  • Though our 121 Cares initiative, every year we undertake voluntary work with the local community and/or environmental causes.
  • Ensure that any associates that we employ take account of sustainability issues in their advice to clients.
  • We are part of the PlasticFree Initiative, and always use the platform to research and recommend sustainable packaging solutions to our clients.

INTERNAL EVENTS AND OTHER DAILY OFFICE PRACTICES

  • Reusable dishware.
  • Disposables if required must be biodegradable
  • No individual bottles and drinks are offered – (except for cans)
