Overview
Interactive digital documentary for legendary modern artist Ellsworth Kelly. Created in collaboration with The Ellsworth Kelly Foundation for Ellsworth’s Centennial Year. The project launched at a seminal event at MOMA, NY celebrating his life and work.
For the navigation, we imagined that moving through this experience could be a bit like navigating through exhibition floor of a museum - except in this case the different rooms represented different chapters of the experience.
When we heard that legendary modern artist Ellsworth Kelly was being celebrated for his centennial, we reached out to the Ellsworth Kelly Foundation to discuss producing an interactive experience to celebrate his life.
Using interactive website design & development, we created a captivating digital experience that can be accessed and enjoyed by anyone, anywhere.
The web app would be integrated into every show that celebrates Ellsworth’s centennial. It will usher in a new opportunity for fans and enthusiasts to experience the life of Ellsworth Kelly in a more intimate way.
This experience was built for mobile phones, adapted to desktops and eventually we built a stand alone digital Kiosk that people could interact with at his exhibitions.

This project galvanized our team as it required an enormous amount of creative energy—which we all more than happy to give.
Our developers pushed the boundaries of what is possible on Webflow. We developed unique animations that aided the storytelling. At every step in the user’s journey we thought about we could keep engagement high with interesting interactions and animations throughout the experience.
More importantly, we had to weave a story that could be navigated in a variety of ways that payed tribute to Ellsworth and remained true to his life and his legacy.
We launched the project at an incredible event in Moma in New York celebrating the artist. In addition to this project, the Ellsworth Kelly Foundation awarded grants totaling $2,75M to 50 art museums in tandem with gifts of artworks valued at $16 million from the artist’s longtime partner and husband, Jack Shear.
We would like to acknowledge the incredible team that made this happen and wholeheartedly thank Jack Shear, President of the Ellsworth Kelly Foundation and Director of the Ellsworth Kelly Studio, and the Ellsworth Kelly Studio staff, especially Luca Pearl Khosrova, Allison Wucher, and Mary Anne Lee, for their commitment and support throughout this project.
